The Dinsmore-Turner scrapbook collection documents Robert Turner and his sweetheart, later wife, Marjorie Dinsmore Turner high school years from 1937 to 1941, their families, and their marriage and wedding in St. Clairsville, Ohio. Additional photographs detailing Robert being drafted, his military career, his death and his official burial arrangements in 1944 and commemoration 1947-1948. There are also photographs of their only child from 1944 to 1946.

The Harry O. Korff, Jr. papers document his military service in the United States Air Corps from 1943-1995 with the bulk of the materials dating to 1943-1950. Korff, a Salisbury, Maryland native and dental surgeon, was enlisted in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II and was stationed in Italy. His papers reflect his World War II service through records from various training schools he attended throughout the United States and a scrapbook showcasing his training in Texas and Florida as well as his active duty service in Italy.

Willard L. Stevens papers

The Willard Stevens papers are a series of scrapbooks documenting his life’s journey called “Walking Short”. He documents his childhood on the farm in Snow Hill, Maryland, his military stationing in the United States Army Air Corps in Florida, and his ministry years as a Methodist pastor. Stevens also notes national events including racial tensions of the Civil Rights movement, the deaths of Reverend Martin Luther King Jr. and President John F. Kennedy, as well as the various wars of his lifetime. His papers also document the adoption and citizenship process, he and his wife took to adopt a Korean girl, Robin. His papers serve as a life narrative from 1917-2014 that document his travels from Maryland Eastern Shore, North Carolina, California, Missouri, and Florida.

World War II Veterans project records

The World War II Veterans project records document orally and written the histories of Wicomico County, Maryland men and women who served in the differing branches of the military during World War II. Written and audio evidence documents the veteran’s enlistment, rank, military unit, and where they were stationed for the duration of the war. Records were collected by Sylvia Bradley and the Westside Historical Society in 1995 with subsequent records periodically added in 1996.
